Whole Foods Market / Grand Rapids Store Opening
For the first Whole Foods Market in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the design drew inspiration from the city’s rich art history, particularly Calder’s sculpture La Grande Vitesse. Each department was treated as a unique work of art, with deliberate color choices that thoughtfully integrated tile, paint, and fixtures to create a bold, elevated look. Playful yet functional lighting helped highlight individual departments while enhancing the store’s overall atmosphere. Custom signage and graphics were created to reflect the store’s color palette, incorporating varying levels of dimension to add depth and visual interest. The store received praise for its bold execution and elevated design, successfully blending retail design and elevated aesthetics.
